Dinner Party at the Historic Hotel Per La in Downtown LA

We were invited to collaborate with Jessica Carillo from Art & Soul Events on an event planner’s experience cocktail hour and dinner showcasing the gorgeous event spaces that Hotel Per La has to offer. We are suckers for a historic property and especially one that boasts a rich (literally and figuratively) past and fabulous interiors. Located in Downtown Los Angeles, Hotel Per La is housed in a lavish and luxe building that was once the Bank of Italy. The hotel has kept many of those original interior and exterior design elements while also giving it a breath of new life and a fresh look. Upon our first visit to the hotel we were immediately smitten!

Cocktails from Golden Hour to Sunset on the Hotel PerLa Rooftop Patio

The event experience began during golden hour on the hotel’s rooftop poolside patio. This space combines a playful color palette and modern Mediterranean design alongside hints and touches of old world historic charm. The sweeping views of DTLA and beyond make for a truly breathtaking experience. Bar Clara, the hotel’s poolside bar, is surrounded by lush potted plants and relaxed lounge seating. The exterior walls are painted with a warm and modern mural depicting abstract shapes and human forms. We took color cues from the mural, warm terracotta pots & bricks of the patio, and the cool shades of blue seen throughout the textiles in the lounge furniture. The florals we did for this area featured a funky and gestural style designed in modern terra cotta vessels. The flowers showcased a mix of muted warm toned blooms such as mauve lisianthus and brownie tulips alongside electric blue delphinium and pale lavender sweetpea. We wanted these pieces to feel warm and muted but to still have some pops and punches of color.

Private Dinner on the Mezzanine Amongst the Velvet Drapes, Flickering Candlelight and Delicate Blooms

Downstairs in the mezzanine of the main restaurant us guests were in for a moody and magical dinner experience. A long dark wood table styled with a mix of whimsical and gestural arrangements of seasonal blooms welcomed us for our feast. Ikebana inspired floral centerpieces comprised of chocolate cosmos, checkered fritillaria, plum & chocolate ranunculus and accents of jasmine vine danced down the table. The décor in the main restaurant and upstairs mezzanine are what our dreams are made of. Dark plum velvet wall paper, deep olive green curtains and accents of rusty reds are seen throughout the space, so these are the colors we utilized. One large airy bar arrangement found its home on the hotel’s built in dark wood bar shelf. Spotted olive green orchids, tons of candlelight and good company made this a truly beautiful evening.
