A Moody Halloween Wedding with Mushrooms, Black Candles, and Vibrant Florals

F&M tied the knot in Los Angeles surrounded by their nearest and dearest - an eclectic cast of witches, fairies, pirates, Tarantino film characters, a Dracula or two, zombie Druids and even a few sexy nuns. This moody Halloween wedding embraced vibrant wedding flowers, mushroom-filled details, and an abundance of black candles evoking fantasy, rebellion, and freedom at every turn.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, WE LOVE A HALLOWEEN WEDDING!

Wild Halloween Wedding Florals with Mushrooms & Plants

The ceremony took place in the courtyard of the storied Kim Sing Theater in Los Angeles’ historic Chinatown neighborhood. The intricate and scaly vines covering the courtyard’s brick walls were complemented by the wild and texture forward floral arrangements that flanked the couple at the altar. Dark wood pedestals held large wild arrangements filled with greenery, lichen encrusted branches, deep plum dahlias and black calla lilies. Accenting these pieces were delicate clusters of arranged mushrooms, moss and black leafed Pepperomia plants.

A Bride all in Red and a Groom Doused in Purple Velvet

Even though the couple wore a dress + veil and a suit, they by no means were your typical wedding threads. The bride wore red from head to toe, her look reminiscent of Lydia’s bridal look from the film Beetlejuice. To work with and stand out against the bright red of her gown and veil the bride’s bouquet featured all of October’s best nearly-black blooms; Calla lilies, dahlias, scabiosa, and ranunculus. All in shades of deep plum were woven together with trailing jasmine vines. The groom was draped, top to bottom, in deep purple velvet. The accents of gold glam jewelry peeping out from his Prince-esqe ruffled shirt were *chef’s kiss*. These two knocked our socks off with their perfect Halloween wedding looks.

Black Candles, Mushroom Terrariums and Artfully Wild Floral Centerpieces for the Dinner Tables

The reception unfolded around long dining tables topped with delicate mounds of mushrooms nestled in moss and surrounded by black candles of all shapes and sizes. The headtable was the focus of our design for the reception. All down its 16 feet the headtable was adorned with black pillar, votive and tapered candles. Mushroom-filled terrariums, plants, moss and Halloween appropriate oddities were dotted throughout the tablescape. To pull it all together we had accents of delicate angel vine and peperomia plants tucked between the candles and floral arrangements. The floral pieces were comprised of the same wild and moody yet vibrant florals we saw at the altar and in the bridal bouquet. Deep magenta dahlias, black calla lilies and scabiosa, wisps of black agonis leaves and swirling jasmine vine filled delicate brass goblets and black ceramic bottles.

Halloween Weddings are the Best Kind of Wedding!

Halloween is our favorite day of the year here at Nocturne in Bloom. Along with the intrigue of ghosts and goblins there’s a deep sense of freedom that comes with the holiday. You get to wear whatever you want, be whoever you want and eat a lot of sweets! Pulling that spirit of freedom and indulgence into a wedding makes for an incredible event that nobody will soon forget. M&F allowed themselves, their guests and the vendors to have fun, relax and go a little wild. It was such a gift to create for these two!
